The Storm That Shook Armidale

The storm first struck Dangarsleigh around 4:45 PM, with large hail and heavy rain.

By 5:04 PM, the Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the region, but many locals had already taken to social media to share photos of the damage.

Between 5:00 and 5:30 PM, Armidale bore the brunt of the storm, with areas like Beardy Street West and Taylor Street quickly becoming impassable due to flooding.

Just before 5 PM, a severe hailstorm hit Armidale, a Northern Tablelands town with nearly 24,000 residents.

Large hailstones pummelled homes and vehicles, causing significant roof damage and leaving many properties exposed to the elements. For homeowners, this storm is a reminder of how vital it is to act quickly and stay informed to minimize damage and handle insurance claims effectively.
